A nine year old schoolboy in South Africa has tied the knot with a 62-year-old woman in South Africa in a ceremony that stunned villagers who described the union as shocking.
world’s youngest groom is quoted as saying he took the step so as to formalize their union, having informally tied the knot with the mother of five last year.
Saneie Masilela wedded Helen Shabangu at a closed ceremony attended by 100 guests including Alfred Shabangu, Helen’s long term husband who is 66 years old.
“My kids and I are happy because we don’t have a problem with her marrying the boy – and I don’t care what other people say,” said Helen, whose five children are aged between 28-38 years.
Masilela said he still hoped he would have a proper wedding to a woman his own age when he was older.
